    Step Two: Communication

  • The Power of Communicating with the Priority Fax Transmitting the Priority Fax
Send each clergy on your list a specially designed Donor Sabbath Priority Fax, accompanied by an Assistance Response Form shown here. In the event you are transmitting to ten or more members of the clergy, the Priority Fax communications can be more effective when sent on a "broadcast" basis, using software available in most fax machines. (This software allows you to personalize each fax without having to send each individually and at a time designated by you) Notice that this urgent communication begins by noting the endorsement of a local or regional organization. The Priority Fax clearly and concisely requests that the clergy contacted should respond by completing and returning the Assistance Response Form without delay. As soon as you receive your response you will have verification of the clergy's contemplated involvement in the Donor Sabbath service. The completed Assistance Response Form will serve to inform you of the kind of information and assistance needed by the clergy to help make certain that this Sabbath service will be successful. For clergy, this commitment to organ and tissue donor awareness can rangs from simply announcing Donor Sabbath participation and providing information (brochures and donor cards) to including a sermon by the clergy or a guest sermon about the blessing of pledging to be a donor, should the opportunity occur. • Following Up with Telephone Calls and Additional Priority Fax Reminder
An effective way to get the attention of clergy who do not respond to your initial fax is to telephone their office. Although you will usually talk with an administrative assistanct, your call will place your fax request on the "front burner." Often, clergy or their representatives intend to respond to the fax, but let it slip as other matters arise. The phone call helps to remind them of thir intended—if delayed—participation in NDS. If this is not successful, send the 2nd Priority Fax as your public relations effort start to appear in the media (see Step Four).
